Enhancing rip current awareness for the safety of our residents and visitors
Every year, Hilton Head Island welcomes over 2.5 million visitors to our pristine beaches and vibrant coastal community.
With this influx of seasonal visitors alongside our Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, and other Beaufort County residences, there is an increased responsibility of safety for all beachgoers. Rip currents are a serious danger, and our mission is to increase awareness and safety on Hilton Head Island.
By educating residents and visitors through clear signage and resources, the Safe Shore project helps people recognize the signs of rip currents and understand how to avoid or escape them. Our vision is to make Hilton Head Island a leader in rip current safety, where everyone has the knowledge to confidently stay safe in the water.
